Chase Park Plaza Developer Profile
BSI Constructors
In this ongoing series, Coming Home profiles people and you may encounter as you make The Private Residences at The Chase Park Plaza your home. In this month's issue, we speak with Jim Shaughnessy, BSI principal and project executive for The Private Residences.
For more than 30 years, BSI has been known as the go-to contractor for some of St. Louis' most impressive structures. The company was recently recognized by Mayor Francis Slay as one of St. Louis' Businesses of the Year, due to its special commitments and investments in the area. Its partnership with The Private Residences at The Chase Park Plaza follows suit.
Why is BSI a good fit for creating
The Private Residences?
BSI has been the contractor of choice for some of St. Louis' most noteworthy developments. Transforming the majestic and historic Park Plaza building into The Private Residences is one such noteworthy project, similar to our work with the Old Post Office, the Moolah Temple Building and numerous others.
What excites you about the development?
As a St. Louis native, I understand and value the historical significance of the property and the anchor that it serves as for the Central West End. As a fellow resident of the Central West End, it means so much to me (and my property value!) to have such a healthy and vibrant hub for our area. As a lifelong builder and contractor, I have always driven by it and longed to have a chance to renovate such a landmark.
What are your thoughts on the
construction to date?
Quite simply, this is one of the most challenging renovation projects we have undertaken. The Park Plaza building is a 30-story giant surrounded by active businesses on all sides, making vertical transportation of materials and workers to the various floors difficult. Furthermore, we had to ensure the heavily used conference center remained active with minimal disruption. We are very proud that we are right on schedule.
